GlucoSet is developing an innovative sensor technology that uses the combination of optical measurements and smart material to continuously measure glucose, and have recently done patient testing. A start-up of 18 full-time employees is working on product development and establishing a prototype manufacturing site in Trondheim, Norway. Of these, 6 are focused on sensor development. We are now looking for a Development Engineer experienced with 1) chemistry (preferable polymer chemistry) or 2) material science, who can help this team and the development work that remains on the Glucose monitoring system.
The Development Engineer is responsible for the design and development of the sensor activities. The responsibilities are to solve complex technical problems and to design sensors. This role includes documentation according to our quality management system.

Skill set
You enjoy solving complex technical problems
You have experience working in teams
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Minimum requirements
Bachelor’s degree or PhD in relevant field
Experience from the medical device industry is required, ie. work experience with ISO 13485 and/or other relevant standards
Working in academia on medical technology is not industry experience unless you followed e.g. ISO 13485
Fluent in English, written and spoken (You do not need to understand Norwegian)

About the company
GlucoSet is a spin-off from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and has offices and cleanroom in Trondheim, Norway. GlucoSet is developing a glucose monitoring system using a combination of optical fiber and smart materials. The monitoring of glucose in the hospital is crucial to reduce complications and lower costs in critically ill patients. No system exists so far capable of fulfilling the complex technical and regulatory requirements of such a device and requirements of the customer and user. The first product is expected to enter the market in 2024. Because GlucoSet is a startup, your work will have significant influence on the company.
